A block of rock salt cut into a sphere outline. It's quarried in the Salt Range of Punjab. It's a decorative cut rather than a plain block, so it doubles as an ornament with the lamp switched off.
Lit, it gives off a warm amber light through the thinner carved edges. Because each piece is natural rock rather than a mould, colour and veining shift slightly from one to the next.
